A new year of lavender gardening

It's April and my lavender is soaking up all the water it can in preparation for a spring explosion of color and fragrance. All of the bushes have been cleaned up, cut back and rounded. Their sweet smell has lasted throughout the winter, despite piles of snow and slush.

I've spent the winter creating "lavender crafts" to possibly sell in a farmer's market this summer. Sachets, bottles, teacups, pillows, and my daughter even sewed up some sassy chenille bags and eye glass pockets. I've put some of these items in a shop up in Salt Lake on consignment, but really am just looking toward summer, when I can offer fresh lavender bundles. The crafts are more the "accessories" to the lavender.
